Caldwell College Art Project Literally on Fire

Project sets off Fire Alarm, Caldwell Fire Department Responds

A student's art project went up in smoke Thursday night, triggering the fire alarm.  Students were able to extinguish the fire prior to the arriving on the scene.

According to Caldwell fire officials, the student lit her art project as part of the creation's design.  The project was suspended from a hanger attached to the ceiling grid.

Upon arriving, the fire deparment vented the area in the sculpture room to remove the smoke.

According to a press statement issued from Caldwell College Media Relations Director Colette M. Liddy, the incident did not result in any injuries or damage.

Liddy reports Caldwell College President Dr. Nancy Blattner, Campus Safety officials, and other appropriate personnel are conducting an internal investigation.
