In Caldwell: Construction Changes Pickup Routine For Lincoln School

Construction in the area of Lincoln School in Caldwell may change dropoff and pickup routines for parents.

If you’re one of the parents who drops off or picks up your child at Lincoln School in Caldwell, your routine may change a bit over the next few weeks.

On Monday, school administrators announced that street construction on Erwin Road – originally scheduled to begin on Sept. 21 – is now officially underway.

As a result, Erwin Road will be closed in both directions for up to two weeks, and no parking will be allowed. The road will be open in one direction northbound for a short time during school pickup only and an officer will be at the intersection, helping the parents arriving for pickup, according to school officials.

“The construction, which will last for several weeks, will begin on the corner of Smull Avenue and Hatfield Street, Caldwell, and proceed up Hatfield Street onto Erwin Place, finishing on Elm Road. To assist our parents and staff in determining the best route and drop off points for school, we have spoken with the Caldwell Police Department to help us provide some helpful tips and suggestions.

“Although no construction is planned for the area immediately in front of Lincoln School, we understand that some of you may use one or more of the streets involved for parking and walking to and from school. Please be aware that a sidewalk on Hatfield Street will be open at all times, and a police officer will be on hand to assist students in selecting the safest side of the street on which to walk. Erwin Place will be closed to parking during the construction. Please find an alternate parking location on Arlington Avenue or the lower end of Crane Street near Forest Avenue. The actual construction on Crane Street will be minimal near Erwin Place and Elm Road.”
