Caldwell Diner Will Serve Breakfast, Lunch at Taximi
With restaurant closed after fire, patrons can eat down the street starting Friday.
Caldwell Diner patrons will soon get their beloved pancakes, French toast, soups and other specialties back—only at a different location.
The diner at 332 Bloomfield Ave., has been boarded up since a fire, which has been deemed accidental by fire officials, severely damaged the building early Saturday morning.
Owner Gus Apostolopoulos confirmed Wednesday that he is planning to serve breakfast and lunch down the street at Taximi, one of the Apostolopoulos family's two other restaurants. They also own Bruschetta Ristorante in Fairfield.

Located just a few doors down from the diner at 350 Bloomfield Ave., Taximi is an upscale Greek restaurant that is typically open only for dinner, Tuesdays through Sundays. Apostolopoulos said they will be able to offer limited breakfast and lunch menus, starting as soon as Friday at 7 a.m.
Meanwhile, what will happen with the diner remains uncertain.

"It's too early to make statements of what we are going to do," Apostolopoulos said.
But Apostolopoulos said he is grateful for everyone who has reached out to him and his family since the fire.
"We thank everybody for their support in these difficult times," he said.
