Caldwell Dogs Must Be Out By Thanksgiving, Adopters Needed
How does it feel to be separated from an old friend? A pair of Essex County dogs may be about to learn the sad answer to that question.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — How does it feel to be separated from an old friend? A pair of Essex County dogs may be about to learn the sad answer to that question if they don’t find a new home by Thanksgiving, a Caldwell rescue organization says.
Spring and Ernie – the former pets of deceased West Caldwell resident and animal activist Elise Linden – are still in need of an adopter who will take them as a pair, according to the FernDog Rescue Foundation.
“Seven months,” the rescue organization wrote on a recent social media post. “It has been seven months since Spring and Ernie lost their mama Elise, and seven months of living in her vacant house since then. In that time, we have searched extensively for a new forever home for Spring and Ernie. They have been shared thousands of times, and thousands of you have continued to follow their story. Despite this, they remain without a forever family, and their time in their home is running out.”

According to the group, the pair of dogs must be out of their current home by Thanksgiving, when it will be listed for rent.
“The situation is now more urgent than ever, and we need your help,” the group wrote. “Although it breaks our hearts, at this point we have accepted that we will likely be separating Ernie and Spring since no home has come forward for the two of them together.”
