Caldwell Library Celebrates NJ Trolleys

Caldwell Public
Library is hosting a special event featuring a talk and photos of New Jersey’s
Trolley Car system plus a celebration honoring Bob and Janet Markman for their
outstanding support of Caldwell Library over the years. At the celebration, the
Markmans will unveil their new Library donation of a richly detailed Caldwell
2600 Series Trolley replica. These trolley cars once travelled the #29 line
along Bloomfield Avenue.
Caldwell Mayor
Ann Dassing will launch the celebration with a Mayoral Proclamation recognizing
the Markmans’ great contributions to the Library and the community. Next, Mr.
Tony Hall, founder of the North Jersey Electric Railway Historical Society and
editor of the "Trolley Lines" newsletter , will describe
the rise and demise of our local trolley car system as well

as current efforts to restore and preserve relics of this once popular

form of public transportation. The program will also include rare NJ trolley

photos and videos and refreshments will be provided. Reservations required by
contacting librarian@caldwellpl.org or 973-226-2837.
