Caldwell Man Faces Drug Charges

Narcotics investigation leads to arrest.

A Caldwell man faces multiple drug charges after police say they found pot and drug paraphenalia in his garage.

Daniel LaRocca, 21, was arrested at 25 Espy Road, on Friday, Oct. 28, shortly after 6 a.m. Police searched the garage assigned to his mother's condominium unit Friday morning with a search warrant issued by Essex County Superior Court.

According to Caldwell Police Det. Sgt. Anthony Marta, who led the narcotics investigation, two safes in the garage contained marijuana, as well as resealable plastic storage bags, a small amount of cocaine, glass pipes, a bong, a digital scale and $260 cash.

LaRocca was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana under 50 grams, Marta said.

Caldwell Police Officers Chris Butchyk, Michael Geary and George Henderson assisted with the investigation.

LaRocca was released on bail. The case is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
