Caldwell Man Faces Narcotics Charges

Police obtain search warrant after reports of drug activity in neighborhood.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Caldwell Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Caldwell man has been charged with intention to distribute Oxycodone and Xanax, according to police.

Leonardo Curatolo, 22, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 3 after police say they searched his home and found numerous pills and $5,806 in cash in a safe in his bedroom. Curatolo allegedly did not have a valid prescription for the narcotics.

Caldwell Police Det. Sgt. Anthony Marta said he worked with Caldwell Police Lt. Marc Driggs to obtain a search warrant after receiving reports from residents of drug activity in the neighborhood. Caldwell Police Officers Brad Palatucci, Andrew Apicella and George Henderson assisted in the search on Oct. 3 along with an Essex County Sherriff Dept. canine officer.

Marta said all the evidence, including more than a dozen Oxycodone and Xanax pills, some 77 pills believed to be steroids, syringes and cash, was contained to the defendant's bedroom in the basement of a two-family home. The evidence was turned over to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office which is handling the case.

Curatolo was charged with four counts of possession without having a valid prescription, three counts of possession of a narcotic with the intent to distribute and three counts of possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone.
