Caldwell-To-Montclair Jitney Bus Being Considered

Interested in a jitney bus from Caldwell to Montclair's Bay Street Train Station? Here's how to let town officials know.

Is a jitney service between Caldwell and Montclair’s Bay Street Train Station something that local commuters want?

If so, they had better speak up soon.

Caldwell municipal officials are exploring the idea of creating a jitney bus that would travel between Caldwell and the Montclair-based station, which takes riders to New York City among other stops.

“It is our hope to provide this convenient, safe and environmentally-friendly way for our daily commuters to reach their work and home destinations,” officials stated on the Caldwell municipal website.

Officials are also considering possible parking options for residents unable to walk to the jitney stops.

To be further considered, the service would need to attract 80 full-time riders, Monday through Friday during “usual commuter hours,” according to the township.
