Caldwell Moves To Demolish Historic Library, Damanged By Storm Ida, And Borough Hall
The Caldwell council has moved to demolish its library, damaged by Storm Ida, and Borough Hall, but will preserve some historic features.

CALDWELL, NJ — Caldwell's Borough Council voted on Tuesday to award a contract to demolish the historic library — which was flooded in 2021 by Storm Ida — and Borough Hall, according to a story in The Progress.
And while a statewide historic preservation organization worried this year that the Carnegie library would be torn down, the "$631,200 contract provides for preservation of the library's historic facade as well as other architecturally historic features of the building for possible incorporation into a new Borough Hall, which has been proposed for the site of the library along Bloomfield Avenue," the story said.
Borough Hall has been deemed unusable because of leaks, the story said.
