If you’re a property owner who has had any issues with code violations on Bloomfield Avenue, now might be a good time to take care of them.
During the Caldwell Town Council’s June 4 public meeting, Mayor Ann Dassing reported that Councilman Pasquale Capozzoli and Mark Guiliano of the Caldwell Fire and Code Enforcement Departments conducted a recent walking tour of Bloomfield Avenue, “making lots of notes and taking pictures.”
According to Dassing, Guiliano categorized several code violations that will need to be fixed.

Some violations will be the property owner’s responsibility, and some will be the borough’s, Dassing said.

The mayor had previously asked Borough Attorney Greg Mascera to look into the township’s tree ordinance, in reference to an “unfortunate incident” where a property owner took down some trees along Bloomfield Avenue.
Mascera reported that the municipality has recourse in such a situation, and that if a borough construction official issues a summons, the violation can be brought to Municipal Court.
