One residential burglary, two thefts from unlocked cars under investigation.

Caldwell Police are urging residents to lock their homes and vehicles following a residential burglary and two thefts from unlocked cars last week in the area of Westville Avenue and Washburn Place.
According to Detective/Sgt. Tony Marta, the incidents occurred sometime between Wednesday, Sept. 1 at about 9 p.m., and the early-morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 2.
A Westville Avenue home was allegedly entered through an unlocked rear door while the residents were asleep, Marta said Thursday.

According to Marta, two Xbox game controllers, $55 in cash and a computer thumb drive were reported missing the next day.
Marta believes the burglary is related to two motor-vehicle break-ins in the area that night.

According to Marta, an iPod, a GPS device and a wallet were reported stolen from two unlocked vehicles, one parked in a Westville Avenue driveway and a second on Washburn Place near the corner of Westville Avenue.
It's unknown if these incidents are related to other vehicle break-ins that have recently been reported in the area, Marta said.
Marta urged residents to lock their vehicles and homes and to report any suspicious activity to the police department at 973-226-2600.
