Caldwell Police Partner With Ring; Users May See Video Requests

CALDWELL, NJ — The Caldwell Police Department has officially joined the Ring movement.

Last week, Caldwell police announced the department is partnering with Amazon-owned Neighbors by Ring, which they described as a “neighborhood watch app that send real time crime alerts and safety notifications directly to your phone.”

The Caldwell Police Department released the following statement about its new partnership with Ring on Sept. 6:

“Users may begin seeing alerts from the Caldwell Police Department or requests for videos which may contain evidence useful in solving and preventing crime in our community. By working together, we can all make Caldwell a safer place. Users should understand that the Neighbors App is not a primary reporting tool and is not monitored by the Caldwell Police 24/7. For emergencies and crimes in progress, please call 9-1-1. To report a crime or file a police report, call (973) 226-2600. Please help us spread the word to your neighbors by texting Caldwellnj to 555888.”
