Caldwell Rescue Group Needs Foster Home For 'Depressed' Dog

A Caldwell animal rescue group is asking if locals can help find a foster home for Domino, who is suffering from depression and frustration.

CALDWELL, NJ — Sometimes all the love and care in the world just isn’t enough if you don’t have any room to stretch your legs.

On Thursday, the Caldwell-based Rescue Haven Foundation put out a call for local animal lovers who can provide a foster home for Domino, a dog found abandoned in an empty basement apartment after the tenants moved out.

Email info@rescuehaven.org if you can help. Read the rescue group’s post about the situation below.

“Domino came to Rescue Haven Foundation back in April when he was found abandoned in an empty basement apartment after the tenants moved out a month prior. Since his rescue, he has been boarding at our partner Veterinary Hospital at Verona and Montclair Animal Hospitals and although he is loved and cared for, he is not getting what he truly needs. Sadly he's showing signs of depression and frustration from being cooped up and none of us blame him. We have been looking into some possible board and train facilities to get him in a different environment and to better assess his social ability around other dogs. We would prefer to have him in a local foster home where training support can be provided however, if we can't get a commitment now hopefully we can get a commitment after the board and train.”

“He's a very sweet, smart and outgoing dog who soaks up training like a sponge - he loves to learn and please, especially for a tasty treat. Domino really just needs proper outlets for his energy - someone to allow him to just be a dog in a normal home setting. Because we have never seen him in a home environment we are asking for an adult only home where the patience and effort can be put into helping him blossom. Did we mention he's ridiculously handsome, too?”
