Caldwell School Honors Late Maplewood Resident With 5K Race

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Meghan Doyle was a spirited and engaged member of the Mount St. Dominic Academy and Fairfield University communities. And her legacy of determination lives on after her sudden passing in the eponymously named “Meghan Doyle ʼ05K” race, which is slated to take place on Saturday, May 5 in Caldwell.

According to Mount St. Dominic Academy of Caldwell, which is hosting the 2018 race, the annual event began with a “bucket list” that the Maplewood resident’s family discovered after she passed away following an illness in May 2013.

Scribed on the hand-written list were several goals, including: “Run a 5K” and “Get more involved with the Mount alumni community.”

And that was how the yearly race that bears Doyle’s name was born, school administrators said.

Since its inception, the event has raised more than $65,000 in support of Mount St. Dominic Academy’s tuition assistance program. RACE DETAILS

According to Mount St. Dominic Academy:

“The 2018 MSDA Meghan Doyle ʼ05K begins at 9:30 am on Saturday, May 5, and runs through the neighborhoods surrounding the Mount St. Dominic Academy / Caldwell University campus, amid the scenic rolling hills of Caldwell and Essex Fells, New Jersey. A certified USATF Grand Prix 500-point race, this year’s event will include awards for the top three men and top three women overall, as well as prizes in various age groups. Registration for the MSDA Meghan Doyle ʼ05K, open to runners, walkers and strollers, is open through RunSignup, with discounted registration fees until May 2. Early Registration (before May 2): Adults - $25; USATF Members - $22 (member # required); Students & Children 18 and under - $20. Regular Registration (on/after May 2): Adults - $30; Students & Children 18 and under - $20.”
