Caldwell University Goes to Bat in Fight Against Bakarat's Syndrome
Charity softball game and barbecue to benefit family of local teacher.

On Saturday, April 11, the Caldwell University Event Management class will host “Bat for Bishop,” a fundraising charitable softball event at the Caldwell University softball complex.
The class will host events from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., including a student versus staff softball game, Caldwell University organization activities and an outdoor barbecue.
According to a release, all registration fees, sponsorships, and donations will go toward helping the family of Caldwell faculty member Ed Schons, whose daughter, Melissa, and grandson, Andrew Bishop, both suffer from a rare genetic disorder called Barakat’s Syndrome which causes major medical issues including hearing loss, poor vision, dental problems, hypoparathyroidism and kidney failure.

Both are in need of lifesaving kidney transplants, according to a release.
