Caldwell University Graduates ‘Largest Class Ever’ For 2017 (VIDEO)

Caldwell University celebrated a milestone during its 75th annual commencement ceremony.

CALDWELL, NJ — Caldwell University held its 75th annual commencement ceremony on Sunday, celebrating a milestone with the largest number of graduates in its history, school administrators stated.

During the ceremony, undergraduate and graduate students wore academic attire made from 100 percent-recycled plastic bottles, administrators said.

The undergraduate commencement speaker was Shyam Sharma of Lodi, president of the Student Government Association. Matthew J. Block, director of human resources for the Summit Public School District, was the commencement speaker for the graduate ceremony.

The university presented an honorary degree to Olive Woodye, an educator from Belize, a natin where Caldwell University students, faculty and staff have served on recent volunteer trips.

“Woodye was honored for her service to children, education and her community,” university administrators said. “She was the first principal of St. Benedict Primary School, a model Roman Catholic school in Punta Gorda in the Toledo district of Belize.”
