Caldwell University Senior Named to Daktronics All-Region First Team

Emily Caswell named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year

Caldwell University senior forward Emily Caswell (Wakefield, RI/Prout School) was selected to the Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-East Region first team.

Caswell, who was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year at the end of the regular season, averaged 20.8 points and 14 rebounds per game to lead the CACC in both categories.

Caswell and the other first team all-region honorees are now candidates for All-American honors and will appear on the national ballot. The Daktronics All-Region and All-American teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Caswell recorded a Division II-best 24 double-doubles while ranking second nationally in rebounding and 10th in scoring. She also leads the CACC in field goals made (226), free throws made (164) and defensive rebounds per game (11.9) while ranking fourth in free throw percentage (83.2) and ninth in field goal percentage (47.2). A four-time CACC and ECAC Player of the Week, Caswell set the school record for rebounds in a season (421) while scoring more points this year (624) than any Cougar since the 1991-92 campaign.

Caswell ends her career at Caldwell with 1,486 points and 929 rebounds to rank among the program’s all-time leaders. During her four years, she helped the Cougars advance to the semifinals of the CACC Tournament four times, including appearances in the championship game in 2012 and 2013. This season, Caswell led Caldwell to a 19-11 record and a share of the CACC North Division title with a 15-4 mark in conference play.

Caswell follows former teammate and 2014 Daktronics East Region Player of the Year Jeanette Anderson as the only Cougars to make the all-East Region first team since Caldwell became a Division II member in 2002.
