Caldwell University Talk: Papal Policies On Clerical Sexual Abuse

Caldwell University will host a free, public lecture about "Papal Policies on Clerical Sexual Abuse: God Weeps."

The Department of Theology and Philosophy at Caldwell University will present a lecture about “Papal Policies on Clerical Sexual Abuse: God Weeps,” with Jo-Renee Formicola, Ph.D., professor of political science at Seton Hall University on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 4:30 p.m. in the Alumni Theatre.

Dr. Formicola's specific field of expertise is Church-State relations and she is widely published on social and religious topics related to the relationship between the Catholic Church and the American government. Her book, Papal Policies on Clerical Sexual Abuse: God Weeps, will be out in March.

Her other books are: The Catholic Church and Human Rights (1988);John Paul II: Prophetic Politician (2002); The Politics of Values (2008) and Clerical Sexual Abuse: How it Changed U.S. Catholic Church-State Relations (2014). She is the co-author of The Politics of School Choice(1999) and Faith Based Initiatives and the Bush Administration (2003).

The lecture is free and open to the public.

The presentation is part of the Sister Maura Campbell lecture series. Sister Maura was a Sister of St. Dominic of Caldwell, a theologian, philosopher, professor, researcher and national leader in education whose scholarship and teaching spanned 50 years.
