Caldwell's Lincoln School Turns 100: School Invites Former Students, Admins Back For Upcoming Celebration

On Friday, Oct. 23, Lincoln Elementary will celebrate its 100th birthday with two performances at the school, including a tour of the current facilities.
School officials are encouraging alumni who graduated from the elementary school before 2006, mayors and current/past district administrators to revisit their former alma mater, a release stated.

According to a release, school officials will offer a 9 a.m. tour followed by a special performance of “Shout Out for Lincoln’s Centennial,” or a 10:30 a.m. presentation followed by a tour.
Tours and presentations will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, a release stated.

As part of the event, current students will also participate in a “Centennial Fair” in the afternoon behind the school, featuring games, a photo booth, a James Caldwell High School musical group, pretzel cart and a lemonade stand.
Parents are invited to attend and watch the festivities, a release stated.
Alumni with memorabilia, school stories, artifacts or other items of historical or sentimental significance are invited to share their stories and memorabilia for the event, which will include old photographs, videos, scrapbooks and more.

SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS
According to a release:
- Throughout its history, Lincoln School has welcomed countless local heroes and celebrities, including civil rights hero Ruby Bridges, local veterans and mayors, and authors Margery Cuyler, Douglas Florian, Dan Gutman and Elivra Woods.
- The second-oldest of the buildings currently used by the school district, Lincoln School opened in 1915, following a real estate boom in the early 1900’s.
- The school is one of two Carnegie Buildings in Caldwell.
