Caldwells Memorial Day Travel Primer

If you’re one of the millions of Americans who plan to get away for Memorial Day weekend, get prepared.

A New York Times report is predicting “the worst Memorial Day traffic in 10 years” due to cheaper gas prices and travelers’ desires to get back outside after a particularly cold winter.

“Following a harsh winter, many Americans are trading in their snow boots for flip-flops and making plans to start the season with a vacation getaway,” Marshall L. Doney, the president of AAA, said in the report.

As of Thursday evening, the National Weather Service is predicting clear sunny skies for Saturday and Sunday, with a chance of showers on Memorial Day.

Here’s the local weather forecast from the NWS:

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 76.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56.

Memorial Day: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
