“Anthony W. Kuczborski, 88, of Caldwell, died on August 13, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.
“A gifted athlete, Anthony was a lifelong resident of Caldwell. For over 40 years he was a police officer in the Caldwell Police Department, retiring at the rank of lieutenant. After graduating from high school he was recruited to play baseball for the Chicago Cubs. He played for a short time and then was drafted during World War II. He served honorably in the US Army as an MP and in special services. Throughout his life he was always actively involved in sports. In younger years he played ball on many leagues in the community and later he could always be found on the tennis courts, in one of his gardens, or on the beach at LBI working on his tan, enjoying the beach with family and friends. It was the skills learned as an athlete that later assisted him after his stroke. As determined as ever he worked hard to remain fit, taking speech therapy classes to get back the language that was lost to him through the stroke and aphasia.
