Caldwells Teacher Named Educator Of The Year

Adriana Podvesker of James Caldwell High School teaches English and AP Literature, and is co-advisor for the school newspaper.

Adriana Podvesker, a teacher at James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell, has been named Educator of the Year for 2015 by Essex Lodge No. 7 of Free and Accepted Masons.

According to school officials, every year, staff and students are asked to nominate a teacher for the honor. This year, Podvesker received the most votes from both peers and students and been awarded the honor by the local lodge.

Podvesker, who teaches both junior and senior English and AP Literature, is also a co-advisor for the school’s newspaper, The Caldron.

“I am both honored and extremely touched to have been selected for this award by both my students and my peers,” Podvesker said. “To have these two groups of people elect to nominate me for this honor is incredible, and to win the award is just wonderful.”

Podvesker will be honored at a dinner on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Victor’s Chateau in Little Falls, which also supports the high school scholarship program run by the lodge.

According to a release, Podvesker will receive $1,000 to use toward educational supplies and programming needs in her classroom along with a commemorative plaque.
