Caldwells Youth Basketball Players To Host Cancer Fundraiser

The fundraiser will be held in memory of the sister of James Caldwell High coach and teacher Jeff Edwards.

West Caldwell, NJ – This boys and girls basketball teams from James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell will host an upcoming fundraiser at the school to benefit the American Cancer Society as part of the “Coaches vs. Cancer” program.

Organized by the American Cancer Society, the program provides a way for high school students to help raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer, school officials stated.

This year the teams will raise funds for pancreatic cancer research in memory of the sister of JCHS coach and teacher Jeff Edwards, according to a school news release.

The boys junior varsity team and varsity teams will play on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

The girls freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams will play on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7 p.m., respectively.

The event will include halftime games, snacks and sales, according to a release.

In addition to the games, the teams work with coaches Mike Fess and Ryu Saito, as well as with the Hoopsters and Shooters Booster Clubs, to hold a variety of fundraisers at the school to advertise the events and raise funds, school officials added.
