Car Strikes, Kills Essex County Doctor: Prosecutor

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A driver struck and killed a doctor who was walking in Essex Fells on Tuesday morning, authorities say.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, a vehicle struck Jan Huston-Pryor, 66, of Essex Fells, as she was walking on the 200 block of Devon Road around 9:25 a.m.

Emergency responders transported Huston-Pryor to Mountainside Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m.

The driver, who prosecutors declined to identify, remained at the scene. No one has been charged as of Tuesday morning, authorities stated.

An investigation is active and ongoing, prosecutors said.
