‘Community Safety Day’ At Essex County Mall: Have Fun With Cops, 1st Responders

Nearly 40 local, county, state, and federal agencies in the Essex County area are expected to be at the Livingston Mall on May 6.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Nearly 40 local, county, state, and federal agencies in the Essex County area are expected to be on hand to greet community members at a “Community Safety Day” event at the Livingston Mall. The public event is slated to take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, organizers say.

According to Livingston town officials, about 40 local, county, state, and federal agencies will offer displays and demonstrations throughout the mall during the event. The family-friendly celebration will also feature appearances by Batman, the Batmobile, McGruff the Crime Dog, canine police units, law enforcement and fire department vehicles, child seat safety inspections, and a New Jersey State Police NorthSTAR helicopter.

The mall is located at 112 Eisenhower Parkway in Livingston.

The annual event is sponsored by the Essex County Crime Prevention Officers Association (ECCPOA).

“The Livingston Police Department is always pleased to be a part of this great family event,” stated Livingston police officer and ECCPOA President Gary Mankowitz.

“This event is always exciting and fun – especially for kids,” continued Mankowitz. “We hope everyone will join us for the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. in Center Court at the Livingston Mall, or will stop by during the day to participate.”
