Cub Scouts from Caldwell Pack 846 participated in the monthly "Sandwich Night" event on June 6, held at First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell and to benefit St. John's Soup Kitchen in Newark. For twenty years, First Presbyterian Church has been making bagged lunches for the soup kitchen to help those less fortunate. On a monthly basis the church congregants also make and serve a complete hot meal for those in need at St. John’s.

Scouts from the Pack 846 Webelos den (4th graders) and Tiger den (1st graders) helped in preparing 440 bagged lunches that included sandwiches, fruit, a drink, cookies, and candy. The Scouts assisted the various food stations along the assembly line to prepare bags, add napkins and food, and pack the lunches for delivery to the soup kitchen.
