ECC Student Earns Scholarship From Caldwell-West Essex Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex helped a student at Essex County College to continue his education at Rutgers with a $1,500 award.

CALDWELLS, NJ — The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex recently helped a student at Essex County College to continue his education at Rutgers University-New Brunswick this fall with a $1,500 scholarship.

Nolan Finnegan, who graduated from Essex County College earlier this month with an associate in the arts, earned the 2018 Irene Gibbons Award for Community Service and Academic Excellence. The scholarship is in memory of longtime ECC West Essex campus administrator/counselor Irene Gibbons, a former mayor of Caldwell and Kiwanis Club member.

“Mrs. Gibbons believed in education as does the Kiwanis Club,” said club member Mary Ann Luke.
