WEST CALDWELL, NJ — Work has officially begun on a big expansion to the Essex County College (ECC) campus in West Caldwell, which is expected to finish by September 2022.

Earlier this month, officials including Gov. Phil Murphy gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony on Bloomfield Avenue in West Caldwell, announcing plans to develop a new West Essex campus for the college.

A 51,700-square-foot college building will replace the 1920's-era elementary school building currently used by ECC, and will provide modern classrooms that complement the school’s curriculum, county officials said.
