Essex County YMCA to Host Special Olympics Swim Meet
Athletes will come from Caldwell, Livingston, Newark and Wayne

On Saturday, March 21, from 1 to 5 p.m., the YMCA of Montclair will host approximately 60 athletes from four teams representing Livingston, Caldwell, Newark and Wayne for the Essex County Special Olympics Swim Meet.
This will be the second time the YMCA of Montclair is home to a Special Olympics New Jersey Swim Meet, according to a release.
The games will open with a parade of athletes, and the competition includes 16 races, including the 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 100 individual medley, 200 individual medley and 200 freestyle.

“It’s an honor to host this amazing community event again and to see these athletes compete,” stated YMCA of Montclair CEO Jo Ann Short. “It’s also incredibly rewarding for those of us who volunteer and give back.”
A team of YMCA of Montclair Dolphins swim team members and parents will serve as event volunteers.
