Caldwell
Library presents local author Richard Kennedy who will share photos and
stories from his recent book on New Jersey's historic Essex Mountain
Sanatorium. Founded in 1907, the Sanatorium started as a home for
wayward girls and expanded into a 200 acre complex as one of the
country's finest tuberculosis treatment centers. Kennedy began exploring
the abandoned institution in 1987 and spent decades researching the
facility's history. There will be an opportunity to obtain signed copies
of Kennedy's book following the presentation. Refreshments provided and
registration required at 973-226-2837 or librarian@caldwellpl.org. This is Caldwell Library's kickoff event celebrating New Jersey 350th anniversary.
