Advent Festival at the First Presbyterian Church

Community residents are invited to participate in an Advent Festival at the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell at 2:00 on Sunday, November 27.   The free Sunday afternoon event offers the opportunity to prepare for Christmas by making ornaments and other decorations.

At least a dozen craft stations will provide something for all ages and skill levels, appropriate for both individuals and families.  All supplies are provided at no cost, and helpers will be on hand at each table.  This year’s projects include family Advent wreaths with candles to be lit each Sunday of Advent, a few repeat favorites from last year’s festival, and a number of new, exciting possibilities.

The crafting sessions will end at 4:00 and will be followed by a brief devotional time noting the First Sunday of Advent, led by the Rev. Dr. Rick Sommers, the church’s senior pastor.  The afternoon will conclude with a short carol sing led by church members Rey Mercado and Kris George.

Parents are encouraged to work with younger children, as this is intended to be an opportunity to promote family togetherness.   Older children, teenagers, and adults will also find it easy to participate alone or with a friend.

There is no cost to participate, but it is necessary to pre-register by no later than Nov. 20.  Registration can be done during the Coffee Hour after the 10:00 AM Sunday worship service, or by calling the church office at 973-228-0310.
