Fine Art and Crafts at Anderson Park

On Saturday and Sunday, September 11-12, shoppers can go to the mall or buy on the internet, but they will not find the talented and unique artisans who help transform Anderson Park in Upper Montclair into a Fine Art and Fine Craft Gallery. The twenty-seventh annual Fine Art and Crafts at Anderson Park, a juried show, is scheduled rain or shine, from 10am-5pm.

Co-sponsored by the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and Janet and Howard Rose of Rose Squared Productions, Inc., the free-to-the-public show will feature over 140 fine artists, photographers and artisans in glass, clay, clothing, leather, wood, jewelry and much more. A variety of food and specialty foods will be offered.

Two of the many new and unique exhibitors at this year's event are photographer John R. Kramerer of Gettysburg, PA and jeweler Elizabeth Hopkins of Feasterville, PA.

Kramer describes his endeavors in poetic terms: "The flower photos will not stop growing: Natural light. Color. Shape. Movement. Water. Tools in front of my digital camera constantly evolving in search of wows and smiles. Bold, powerful images archival inkjet printed on canvas looking like 3-D paintings. My green thumb is glowing. My Nikon is green."

After spending her early life exploring a variety of arts and crafts, jeweler Hopkins turned her attention to glass in 1997. Blending the interpretive and creative skills she honed in her years as an actress and the eye for detail and color she developed in her years of knitting, cross stitch and needlepoint, Blais has developed her own unique style in glass creations including flowered beads that are at once playful and elegant.

Anderson Park is located on the corner of North Mountain Avenue and Bellevue Avenue in Upper Montclair. The hours of the free event are 10am-5pm, rain or shine. For additional information visit: www.rosesquared.com.
