Schola Cantorum on Hudson at Caldwell College

Repertory singers from the innovative choral ensemble Schola Cantorum on Hudson will present a concert of choral works that meld music and poetry as part of Caldwell College's Music and the Arts series on Sunday, April 18 at 4 p.m.

The ensemble, under the baton of Artistic Director and Founder Dr. Deborah Simpkin King, will perform song settings of poetry by Emily Dickinson, James Joyce, Sara Teasdale and Walt Whitman, as well as chansons of early 20th century French impressionism.

Audience members will hear familiar favorites such as the French folk song "Alouette," arranged by John Bertalot. Composers include Samuel Adler, Samuel Barber, Jean Berger, John Chorbajian, Claude Debussy, Kirke Mechem, Sheena Phillips, Maurice Ravel and Halsey Stevens.

Dr. Laura Greenwald, music department chairwoman and concert series director at Caldwell College, performs with the ensemble.

"We are delighted to be part of this important series that extends our mission of education into the collegiate arena," King said.

The concert will be presented at Caldwell College's Alumni Theater. General admission tickets are $20; tickets for students and seniors are $15.
