On Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the McAngus Highland Dancers host their annual Scottish dance competition at the North Caldwell Fireman’s Community Center. The event, which includes traditional Scottish dances such as the Scottish Lilt, Highland Fling, Sword Dance, and Sailor’s Hornpipe, attracts dancers from throughout the metropolitan area, New England, and as far south as Virginia. A live bagpiper accompanies the dancers as they compete for medals and trophies.
The public is invited to watch the competition, and enjoy the variety of lunch items for sale, including Scottish meat pies, bagels, hot dogs, drinks, and snacks. Admission for adults is $5 and children under 16 are admitted free. Most of the competitive events take place before lunch, so go early, and enjoy the show!
