Fairfield Runner Wins 5K, Raises Funds for Organ Donation in Mother's Memory
Alexandra Niles has won the women's NJ Sharing Network's 5K Walk & USATF-Certified Race each year since it started in 2011.
Alexandra Niles of Fairfield was the top female runner at NJ Sharing Network’s Fourth Annual 5K Walk & USATF-Certified Race on June 8 in New Providence.Niles crossed the finish line 18:12. She has won the women’s category every year since the event started in 2011. Niles was also the captain for Team Betsy’s Dash, which walked and ran in the event to honor the memory of her mother, Betsy, who was an organ donor.
Nearly 9,000 people, all touched in some way by organ and tissue donation, walked or ran in the event to help raise awareness and funds for organ donation. This year’s 5K has already raised $700,000.
