'Farmival' Fun Featured at Caldwell Farmers' Market

Animal-themed tent sparks children's interest, offers games and prizes.

Despite the hot weather this summer, the Caldwell Farmers' Market has continued to attract shoppers each Friday.

Now the market is trying to lure children as well.

In its fourth week, the Caldwell Farmers' Market launched "Farmival" on Friday. The part-farm, part-carnival tent offered animal-themed games, prizes and even temporary tattoos. The prizes included the mega-popular Silly Bandz.

Brothers Kevin and Harry Boland, of West Caldwell, tried their luck and came away winners in the bean bag toss and fishing games. Even those passing by enjoyed watching the children in the "Farmival" tent, laughing when they caught a fish or scored some high points with some good bean bag aim.

"We're trying different things," Farmers' Market Manager Doug Piazza said. "We want to keep the business steady here for our vendors and continue to offer this market to everyone in the Caldwells."
