Foodtown Supermarket Celebrates 'Grand Reopening' In Caldwell

LIVINGSTON, NJ — After an extensive renovation, Foodtown of Caldwell celebrated its "grand re-opening" this past Friday.

The store is located at 370 Bloomfield Ave., near Caldwell University. It was kept open for the bulk of the renovations, which began last year, a spokesperson said.

Changes include an added cheese shop, whole bean coffee, an enhanced wine, beer and a liquor selection, a greater variety of hot and prepared foods to go, an expanded bakery department featuring fresh baked breads and rolls, an expanded organic produce section, Rancher’s Legend beef and more natural and organic poultry.

The store's front and rear facades were renovated, as well as the lighting, floor tiles, wine display cases, food showcases, self-checkout registers, and more, said a representative.

“It’s been a long process, but well worth it as our customers and tcommunity deserve the very best shopping experience in a modern grocery establishment,” said Jack Shakoor, the owner of the Caldwell location of the chain.

“The renovation of Foodtown of Caldwell underscores Jack Shakoor’s commitment to the community he serves," said John Derderian, the president of Allegiance Retail Services/Foodtown. "He is a long-standing member of our cooperative – including being on our Cooperative’s Board of Directors – and operates three additional Foodtown supermarkets in Northern New Jersey."
