The Friends of the West Caldwell Library will celebrate their 25th anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the library. The program will include recognition of the founding members and the acknowledgement of official proclamations beginning at 2:45 p.m. At 3:15 p.m, there will be an entertaining afternoon of music by the acapella harmony group, Dapper Dans.

In 1999, during a country-wide cutback due to budget pressures and funding cuts, more than one million volunteer groups participated in 2,800 Friends groups around the country. In that year, Library Director April Judge and Dr. Eugene Bradford, Superintendent of C-WC Schools and our first President, formed a steering committee to organize the Friends of the West Caldwell Public Library. There were 31 founding members and since then, membership has continued to grow.
