Gas Leak In Caldwell Temporarily Closes Bloomfield Avenue

PSE&G said the Caldwell gas leak was "routine." The area is safe, a spokesperson stated.

CALDWELL, NJ — A gas leak temporarily closed a section of Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell on Thursday, authorities said.

Bloomfield Avenue was closed from Provost Square to Arlington Avenue in both directions due to a “utility problem,” the Caldwell Police Department stated at 10:27 a.m.

The roadway was reopened for travel, police stated in an update at 12:44 p.m.

A PSE&G spokesperson provided Patch with the following statement about the Feb. 21 incident:

“We are investigating a routine gas leak on Bloomfield Ave. PSE&G technicians are on site and the area is safe. Local officials have reopened the road and there are no evacuations necessary.”
