Gas Station Robbery Victim Released From Hospital

Man injured in strong-arm robbery at Caldwell Exxon Monday.

A man who was  at the Exxon gas station in Caldwell has been released from the hospital and is recovering, according to police.

The victim, who has not been identified, left Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge on Tuesday, Caldwell Police Chief James Bongiorno said.

Police have not released additional details as they continue to investigate the strong-arm robbery, which took place Monday around 4 p.m. at 226 Bloomfield Ave.

The man was working alone at the time of the robbery, according to his employer.

The owner of the business told Patch about $1,200 in cash and thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes were taken.

The gas station is located on a highly visible strip of Bloomfield Avenue, across the street from a church and adjacent to the driveway of a busy restaurant and market.

The gas station has re-opened for business since the robbery.
