Exclusive: Warner Bros has acquired The First Phone Call From Heaven for a movie.

The First Phone Call From Heaven, opens on a morning in the small town of Coldwater, MI, when the phones start ringing and the voices say they are calling from heaven. While each call is greeted differently — some with love, some with religious zeal, some with fear — a grieving single father with an inquisitive and hopeful son takes it upon himself to uncover whether these callers are hoaxers, or they are really dialing long distance.

Albom, who came up a sports columnist for the Detroit Free Press, has also written “Tuesdays with Morrie”, which was on the NY Times Best Seller list, made into a play and movie by Oprah. “Tuesdays with Morrie” is now the most successful memoir ever published. Albom’s first novel, “The Five People You Meet in Heaven”, is the most successful US hardcover first adult novel ever. “For One More Day”, debuted #1 on the NY Times Best Seller List and remained there for nine months.

Mitch Albom is an internationally renowned and best-selling author, journalist, screenwriter, playwright, radio and television broadcaster, and musician. His books have collectively sold more than 35 million copies worldwide; have been published in forty-nine territories and in forty-five languages around the world; and have been made into Emmy Award-winning and critically-acclaimed television movies.

Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Mitch Albom, earned a bachelor’s degree in 1979 at Brandeis University, majoring in sociology, then earned a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, followed by an MBA from Columbia University.
