Forecast From Caldwell Airport: Wind Gusts Into Friday

THE CALDWELLS, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Caldwells area through 10 a.m. Friday morning, expecting gusts of up to 48 miles per hour and possible thunderstorms.

The forecast from Essex County Airport in Caldwell says:

Overnight Into Friday: Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 1 am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 46. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers before 10 a.m. Cloudy through mid morning,
then gradual clearing, with a temperature falling to around 34 by 5 p.m. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

A map posted by the National Weather Service shows potential gusts of 46 miles per
hour near Morristown, 49 near Newark, and stronger gusts along the shore.

The NWS warns: "Strong winds will blow around unsecured objects. Scattered tree limbs, and a few trees and power lines could be blown down. A few power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles."

They advise, "Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects."
