Herb Schwartz, longtime proprietor of the in Caldwell, died on Christmas morning, according to an obituary published in The Star-Ledger Tuesday.
According to the announcement, Schwartz taught art to children and adults for more than 40 years. He was passionate about teaching, writing on his website, "I have taught every grade from kindergarten through college and interacted with tens of thousands of children. This has shaped my life in unison with my own art."
A fine artist, Schwartz's works are in the collections of the Library of Congress, as well as museums and galleries around the world.

"The themes of my artwork are varied and unique to each stage of my life, but I do see a structure that to me is cohesive, logically connected and intelligible," states his artist bio on his website, "I hope there is a sense of harmony and balance permeating each piece."
