How To Grocery Shop Safely In Coronavirus: Caldwell Nursing Prof.

CALDWELL, NJ — It can be frustrating to watch people put themselves at risk as the new coronavirus spreads. But it notches things up a degree when you’re a professor of nursing.
On Tuesday, Caldwell University Nursing Professor Kathleen Ann Kelley shared a video she created about how to safely grocery shop and practice good hygiene during the coronavirus crisis. (Watch it below)
Kelley, the university’s director of undergraduate nursing education, originally recorded the video for social media. But she decided to share it with the community after it started attracting attention.

“I put together this video after seeing so many people contaminating themselves due to improper use of masks and gloves while at the food store,” Kelley said.

Kelley, who has a trauma and critical care nursing background, provides information on how to put masks and gloves on and off properly, packing the car, what to do when taking your groceries into your home and cleaning your reusable bags.

Among her tips, she emphasizes:
- put on hand sanitizer before taking the mask on and off
- make sure the sanitizer gets in between your fingers
- take gloves off without touching your skin
