Inch Of Rain Expected To Fall In Essex County Thursday

While it won't be a major storm, forecasters expect rain throughout Thursday in Essex County. Friday night may see wind gusts.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — While the unusual storms that have taken 20 lives in California aren't expected to hit North Jersey, planners should be aware that events on Thursday may be soggy.

The National Weather Service expects three-quarters of an inch to more than an inch of rain to fall on Essex County from Thursday morning until late at night, they said.

Thursday: Rain after 9 a.m. High near 42. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain, mainly before 2am. Low around 37. East wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: A slight chance of rain before 8am, then a slight chance of showers after 8 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 46. West wind 10 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
