Lajoie A. "Bucky" Saulter, 87, of West Caldwell, N.J., died May 12, 2011.

Visiting was on Monday, May 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell. A service was held on Tuesday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church at West Caldwell, 31 Fairfield Ave., West Caldwell, N.J. The interment was at Restland Memorial Park.

Born in Grey Station, Pa., Mr. Saulter lived in West Caldwell for many years. He was an active member and the sexton at the Presbyterian Church at West Caldwell. Earlier, he worked for the Township of West Caldwell and was an auto mechanic and owner of D & S Auto in West Caldwell for many years.

A Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Saulter was a life member of VFW Post 6255 in Cedar Grove, N.J., and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Caldwell Old Guard and a volunteer with the West Caldwell Fire Department.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Nancy H. (nee Leatherberry); loving daughters, Janet (Tom) Saulter-Hemmer and Gail (Michael) Reid, and loving grandson, Scott (Dawn) Singerline.
