Man Breaks Into Shelter and Steals Pit Bulls Rescued from Dogfighting Ring

Cops offer $5,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

The Paterson Police and the Passaic County SPCA are seeking a man who broke into the Paterson Animal Shelter and stole two dogs that were rescued from a dogfighting ring.

According to the New Jersey State Police, the unidentified suspect broke into the Rye Road shelter in the early morning hours on May 12.

The man was caught on surveillance video cutting the fence, coaxing the dogs over to him, snatching the animals and making his escape.

The two dogs that were stolen were recently rescued from a dogfighting ring that was dismantled by the Paterson Police Department and Passaic County SPCA.

Four men were charged in connection with the illicit operation.
