Meet 'Clara Barton' At The Caldwell Library

In celebration of Women's History Month, the Caldwell Public Library will present a free, public program. Find out more here.

Caldwell, NJ – In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Caldwell Public Library will present a free, public program titled “Clara Barton: Angel of the Battlefield,” as portrayed by Pat Jordan, on March 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Reservations are required and can be made at 973-226-2837.

According to a release from the Caldwell Public Library, Clara Barton founded one of the first free public schools in New Jersey. During the American Civil War, she headed for the front lines, taking supplies to wounded soldiers and earning the title “Angel of the Battlefield.” She later became a passionate supporter of the International Red Cross and established the first chapter of the American Red Cross.

This program is produced by the American Historical Theater, a nonprofit organization specializing in first -person living history presentations, and is funded by the Horizons Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
