Meet Matilda: West Caldwell Youth Lights Up Broadway

When you think of “Matilda,” think of West Caldwell’s Mattea Conforti.

The 9-year-old was recently featured in a NJ.com article, which details her journey from watching the modern theatrical classic “Matilda” on stage to taking up the mantle herself.

Now the Jefferson Elementary School student is one of four co-actors that splits the title role in “Matilda The Musical” at the Shubert Theatre in NYC.

Before “Matilda,” Conforti’s only experience on stage was as a performer with the Essex Dance Academy in Fairfield, NJ.com reported.
