Memorial Day in the Caldwells: 2015 Parade

Many hands make light work.
The communities of Caldwell, Essex Fells, Fairfield, North Caldwell, Roseland, and West Caldwell are combined sponsors of the 2015 West Essex Memorial Day Parade, which will kick off at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, May 25, with a step-off from Forest Avenue in Caldwell.
According to a release, the Line of March continues 1.1 miles along Bloomfield Avenue and concludes with a Memorial Day ceremony at Crane Park in West Caldwell.

The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is WWII veteran Peter Pirrello of West Caldwell.
Festivities will include a children’s bicycle decorating contest, sponsored by the West Caldwell-Caldwell Recreation Department and the Kiwanas Club. All children wishing to decorate and ride their bikes in the 2015 Memorial Day Parade are asked to meet at the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Forest Avenue (Penn Federal Bank parking lot) at 8:30 am on Monday, May 25. Categories include: Most Original, Most Attractive and Most Patriotic. Following the contest, all bikes will be lined up to start the parade and ride to the old Ace Hardware parking lot.

Local groups or organizations are invited to participate in this year’s parade. Interested participants should call the West Caldwell-Caldwell Recreation office at 973-226-3621.
